Fundamental Concepts of Electronic Components

Meeting Photos

Meeting held on April 7, 2004.

While a guitar pickup is conceptually quite simple, getting below the surface requires an understanding of some fundamental electrical concepts. For this meeting, PNW Commiteeman and local manufacturer's rep Daniel Casado took us on a whirlwind tour of basic electronic components and concepts.

In the space of about 2 hours, Daniel managed to cover resistance, capacitance, inductance and then he proceeded to show the attendees how these components work together to produce equalizers and filters. He delved briefly into active components such as diodes, transistors, tubes and opamps. It was amazing how well he covered the territory in the alloted time. Granted, he only hit the high spots, but it was still a credible effort and a good foundation laid for the next two meetings.
